UNIVERSITY OF PUERTO RICO AT MAYAGUEZ CONCRETE CANOE TEAM
The Concrete Canoe is a competition held every year at the United States by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez Campus has participated since 1998 in this competition; becoming known as one of the top teams in the region. The Southeast Region is composed by Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, China, and Puerto Rico; around 30 universities participate of this conference. The objective of the competitions is to build a lightweight concrete canoe and race against other schools, applying engineering knowledge and judgement to create a lightweight concrete mix and break the boundaries making concrete float.
